“Getting the vaccine was a risk of course, it did trigger a flare of my symptoms of ulcerative colitis, and made me feel crummy for a few days. However, I am extremely grateful to have some level of protection against Covid and protection from carrying a higher viral load if infected. We know the vaccine is not 100 % effective but 95% is much better than 0%. Studies I have seen have also indicated that immunity to Covid after having the virus is more passive than lasting meaning getting Covid does not provide lasting immunity to protect you as well as the vaccine can from getting it again.”
