“When the world shut down in March of 2020, it was a really scary time. My mom was in her mid-60’s and fell into one of the groups who are most at-risk. For the following year we only visited at a distance- outside and mostly masked. During this time I got some really bad news and all I wanted was a hug from my mom, but as much as I wanted that, risking her health just wasn’t worth it for me.

My mom got two doses of the Moderna vaccine, but to be cautious we still kept doing things at a distance. As soon as my opportunity to get vaccinated came up I got two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, but we still had to wait two weeks for it to take full effect. It just so happened that the two-week mark after my next shot was Mother’s Day. That first hug after over a year with my mom on Mother’s Day is something I will never forgot. I love you Mom!”
