“I must admit, getting vaccinated was much more emotional than I anticipated. Driving up to the PDX Airport, the volunteers were enthusiastic and the process was smooth. Sitting in the long line of cars, I suddenly felt the impact of what I was doing. I don’t need to reiterate to you how heavy and wild the past year has been – you were there. But sitting in that line, I realized I was a part of a mass event that would help end this traumatic year. My brain started playing the movie of the past year – and then flash-forwarded to the future. I had grown so accustomed to COVID life, I had almost forgotten all of the things I was missing. It was at this moment that everything would change.”
