“I read stories and listened to interviews of people who survived previous pandemics, trying to figure out what history was going to repeat for us. One interview I’ll never forget- a gentleman that survived the polio era! He recounted the day he was lined up for his vaccine. He could remember every vivid detail, the weather, the smells, the energy of excitement. Everyone waited in line anxious to regain life again, to play with their friends again.

His story helped me visualize our future. And now here we are; the vaccines are here and our freedom to hug our loved ones is upon us. The day my mom got vaccinated, I cried. To know she can safely twirl my toddler around again is a gift I’m beyond grateful for, when so many have lost their loved ones forever.”
